Cinema Blend has a new trailer for The People vs. George Lucas, a movie that explores the complicated world of Star Wars fans and their feelings toward the man behind it all.  After the original 3 movies came out (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) the series developed a hardcore group of super-fans who’s devotion to the franchise, and who’s love for George Lucas, knew no parallel.  Things changed greatly after The Phantom Menace was released in 1999.  The movie sucked and a lot of the hardcore fans felt betrayed by George for making something like that and, in their minds, tarnishing the Star Wars name.  These people then went to great lengths to voice their opinions and bitch about how George Lucas raped their childhood.  This film takes a look at these people, but also looks at people who defend Lucas for what he did in the first place; the man created Star Wars.  It seems to be an objective look at both sides of the argument, which to those who care about Star Wars would be a very interesting watch.  The new trailer is embedded first, with the older one following below it.  The People vs. George Lucas is set to debut at SXSW this march.

I have to agree with the people defending Lucas, because even if he did kind of bung things up with Phantom Menace that should take nothing away form the excellence that is the first trilogy.  Regardless, may the force be with you.
